I’m at a service spot, but I don’t see Ehime_Free_Wi-Fi among the network options.

Generally, the distance that Wi-Fi is accessible is several meters in diameter from an access point, though this varies depending on the Wi-Fi devices used and type of installation at each point. If you are having trouble connecting, you may be too far away from the access point. Try to move closer to the device.
If the SSID is still not shown on the screen of your device, consult the manager in charge at the site, or email the Information Technology Division, Ehime Prefectural Government with information such as the facility, location, time and date, and type of device you are using, as well as your past usage experience at the location (if you have ever used the service at the location.)

I can’t connect to Ehime Free Wi-Fi.

Please try the following:

  1. (1) On your device, go to the Settings, click Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi function is on.
  2. (2) Make sure that Ehime_Free_Wi-Fi is displayed among the network options.
If not, move closer to the access point.
  3. (3) Select Ehime_Free_Wi-Fi. Your device should be connected to the Internet.
If not, change your location or try it again after a short while.
  4. (4) Open a browser and complete the authentication process.
  • Note 1: At an access point offered by Group A (NTT Method)
The maximum time of usage per use is 30 min. After 30 min, the Internet connection is shut down and you need to go through the authentication process again.
The maximum time of usage per user per day is 4 hours (30 min x 8).
  • Note 2: At an access point offered by Group B (Ehime CATV Method)
With an Android device, it may take a while to get connected to the Internet after authentication. If you can’t connect to the Internet with your Android device, turn off the Wi-Fi connection once and try the connection process again.

I’m connected to Ehime Free Wi-Fi, but I can’t browse the Internet or use an application software.

The reason may be one of the following:

  1. (1) The authentication is not complete. (You need to go through the authentication process again in the following cases: you have passed the time limit of usage, or you may have unintentionally accessed a different access point since changing your location or for other reasons.)
Open a browser and complete the authentication process.
  2. (2) The device is frozen.
Turn off your device and restart it.

After trying the above suggestions, if you can’t still connect to the Internet, consult the manager in charge at the site, or email the Information Technology Division, Ehime Prefectural Government with such information as the facility, location, time and date, type of device, OS, and browser used, your past usage experience at the location (if you have ever used the service at the location), and the error message displayed (if an error message was displayed, and if so, the content of the message).

The Internet speed is slow.

The reason may be one of the following:

  1. (1) The conditions of Wi-Fi reception are not good. (e.g. You are too far away from the access point, or there is some obstacle between your location and the access point.)
Move closer to the access point or where the reception is better.
  2. (2) The access point is crowded. (Many people are using the connection.)
Please wait for a while and try again.
  3. (3) The access point has some limit in its high speed connection usage.
Some access points set a limit of the total monthly amount of high speed communication usage. Once the usage exceeds the limit, the communication speed becomes slower.
Each location requires a different connection method. Why the inconvenience?

Ehime Free Wi-Fi Project has been made possible with support and favor of many businesses. Each group uses the connection (and authentication) methods that they can offer. Thus it’s not possible to use the same method at all the locations.
Thank you for your understanding.
